A multi-faceted world
A multi-faceted world
“Design is not about seduction; it’s about shock.” - Paco Rabanne
Provocation, excess, fantasy and humour are the keys to the Paco Rabanne universe. From
couture to prêt-à-porter, accessories to perfumes, here is a man who has never stopped
innovating. Challenging the forbidden and defying established codes; this multi-talented rebel is
driven by his own audacity. From Rhodoid to metal, mesh fabric to gold, all of these materials
surrender to the designer’s desires to sublimate women and fill them with light… Going as far as
the ultimate, immutable beauty of diamond.
“An exciting adventure began with 1 Million, that seductive dandy. Now his alter ego steps
towards him. She’s an enchanting young woman, accomplished, seemingly fragile yet
possessing an incredibly sensual and fiery temperament. Like her fragrance and a diamond,
Lady Million is multi-faceted. Through some mysterious alchemy, a fresh, floral top note melds
into a bewitching, powerful woody body.”
The 1 Million Universe
Defying the limits, countering excess with humour, the audacious 1 Million fragrance evokes
every masculine fantasy and desire, while expressing the dreams and fantasies of a selfassured,
intelligent spirit. This is a fragrance for men who are not afraid to show who they really
are. And a worldwide success to boot - 1 Million was met with such enthusiasm at its 2008
launch, that it became the leader on every market. Its gold-lingot shaped bottle gave it an almost
mystical power, captivating all who gazed upon it with envious eyes. 1 Million became the
symbol of the reaffirmation of a certain kind of flamboyant virility, one that is drawn towards the
pursuit of pleasure, of fast cars, beautiful girls, and games of seduction. 1 Million is an ode to life
and to love. With his choice of conquests, only one resisted the snap of his finger… and haunted
his dreams - Lady Million.

With a top note of fresh spicy leather, 1 Million plays with a lively blend of grapefruit, wild mint
and blood mandarin, before plunging into damask rose, cinnamon and spicy notes that
accentuate its sensual base of blonde leather, whitewood, amber and patchouli.
The woman
Lady Million
Ultra-feminine, determined and terribly bold, the Lady Million woman is vivacious and natural.
She shines with a force drawn from her independence and clever mind. Enjoying life to the
fullest, Lady Million responds to the excess of her male counterpart with an unbelievable
glamour spiced up with something beyond reality. As complex as she is feminine, Lady Million’s
character is all about contrasts. Extravagant yet positive, seductive yet embodying a romantic
soul, excessive but never satisfied, Lady Million is a dazzling femme fatale, creative and
untamed. No man can resist her; few can truly win her over, except for the charismatic and
flamboyant 1 Million Man of course. Sparks fly at this encounter, where seductive games,
dreams and fantasies collide in a glittering explosion of two unshakeable and eternal beauties,
gold and diamond.
“Tomorrow’s woman will be efficient, seductive and undoubtedly superior to man.
It is for that woman that I create my designs.” - Paco Rabanne - 1967
The bottle
“A perfume should be as imbued with meaning as it is light to wear.” Paco Rabanne
Paco Rabanne fashion sets the tone and is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. These dresses
are timeless and full of character, made of multiple light-reflecting metal plates. The diamond
immediately sprang to mind as the only possible choice, for it is eternal, expressive, glittering,
ultra-feminine and breathtaking beauty, forever synonymous with desire and passion. Only a
diamond can rival gold. Only Lady Million could take on and seduce 1 Million.
Simple, clear and clean, the Lady Million bottle was designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance and
exudes all of the delicateness of a multi-faceted cut. Such technical prowess owes much to an
exceptional craft and quality of glass. And just like a diamond, the bottle does not have a
specific base, but may be placed on any facet. With a simple architectural feel, it bears a softly
gilded metal cap. Sensual, feminine and curved, it sits comfortably in the hand, sprays easily
and is quite simply an irresistible precious object.
The designer Interview
Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance is designer of both objects and interiors with a string of successes to
his name. Elected Designer of the Year by the Maison & Objets Fair in 2007, he made his first
perfume bottle in 2008 with 1 Million by Paco Rabanne, followed today by Lady Million’s
diamond-shaped bottle.
Why choose a diamond for Lady Million after the gold lingot of 1 Million?
It was logical continuation. The story of 1 Million was so direct and the success so great that I
had to find its feminine counterpart. The bottle had to be as clear and symbolic as the 1 Million
gold lingot. We had to stay with something immediate and first degree that was straight away
amusing. Something obvious was again, clearly the way to go. The idea for that particular shape
and size came from the famous Régent diamond, which is on display in the Louvre, and
considered to be the most beautiful in the world. We then slimmed down the shape, making the
facets as unpronounced as possible for a sober and more modern look.
Why a gilded diamond?
There had to be a harmony with 1 Million. And above all, a diamond is a luminous but cold
stone. Lady Million is sensual, so I had to find a warm colour.
Is the weight of the bottle important?
Yes, the weight of the glass is fundamental. There has to be a certain thickness, but the object
still has to be easy to pick up. The biggest job was to attain sufficient tolerance for the edges to
be visible. Because glass tends to soften them.
What was your biggest challenge in making this bottle?
How to create an object that everyone knows, that everyone can own, and transpose it into a
function that is completely different, without it appearing outrageous. You have to go beyond the
anecdotal in order to concentrate on the object itself and stimulate desires or dreams. I hope
that we succeeded.
How would you define the Lady Million woman?
The Lady Million woman keeps on course, follows her own path. With 1 Million, seduction comes
into play, with flirtation and rivalry, all wrapped up in sensuality, humour and generosity.
The scent
Vibrant and sensual, Lady Million is fresh, floral and woody, like a nectar of voluptuous flowers,
trailing delicately but still very present. Powerfully seductive, the sparkle of bitter orange with a
touch of raspberry reveals the first breath. A burst of neroli follows, smooth and bright. But then
the lethal weapon of heady orange blossom slips out of its sheath. Its narcotic sweetness
bewitches and grabs all attention. Then, joining with Arabian jasmine underlined by gardenia,
the blend soars into something more carnal, yet ever subtle. Now the obsessive pulsing of
patchouli enters the fray, pacifying the honey with an addictive and terribly tempting sweetness.
Amber spreads to become all enveloping, floating around the beauty, following each movement
and offering its most beautiful facets, like a play of light on a diamond.
The perfumers
Interview
Anne Flipo, Béatrice Piquet and Dominique Ropion have all created scents for some of the
biggest names in perfumery. But what path did they take to create Lady Million?
It was clear that this perfume had to be as charismatic as 1 Million, with as strong a signature,
yet without a direct olfactory link.
The Lady Million woman is dazzling, always seductive. This “playful” aspect inspired us
immensely. We thought of the film The Thomas Crown Affair. Like the heroine Faye Dunaway,
Lady Million holds all the cards. But she also has a trump card, her perfume, an absolute
weapon to make a man lose all control and surrender to her.
That is why orange blossom lies at the heart of this blend. It is a very fresh scent, apparently
simple at first, but soon becomes deeply sensual. We were sure that this white blossom par
excellence would play its role to perfection: seductive, quite dazzling but with a smile. Hence
that fruity note that toughens up its voluptuous side a little. It all blends very well with wild
jasmine and neroli. This scent contains around 80 ingredients. We of course used absolutes,
because they offer the best quality that one can find.
Right at the start we detect the delicious vanilla floral notes, accentuated by patchouli and
honey. The latter lends patina, gloss and a very sexy, fascinating animal aspect.
Lady Million therefore offers many nuances. The floral note remains on top but without ever
being aggressive. We found many ways of approaching it without ever repeating ourselves.
Our aim was to reveal all of the character, femininity and glamour of Lady Million. The result is
sexy, soft and carnally aggressive, with this very vibrant and modern woody amber note. You
can feel the top, heart and bottom notes resonating. Luminous and faceted like a diamond!
The model Interview
Dree Hemingway is the actress in the Lady Million advertisement, playing the unabashed femme
fatale of today. Displaying great strength of character and seduction, Lady Million’s encounter
with 1 Million is a sultry one.
At the tender age of 22, the great grand-daughter of Ernest Hemingway has already made a
name for herself on the international stage by becoming one of the key faces of contemporary
fashion.

Do you wear a perfume?
I buy many perfumes. It’s a real obsession, particularly because I love the bottles.
Do you put on perfume once or several times a day? Just in the evening or just to go to bed?
I don’t think that there is a specific time for perfume. You should just wear it like mascara; only
when you feel like it.
What does a perfume represent for you? Is it a weapon of seduction?
A way of expressing one’s personality?
I really think that a perfume can personify someone, and if that is the case, then I suppose that
you could call it a weapon of seduction.
Did you enjoy shooting the advertisement for Lady Million?
The crew were amazing and I really had fun playing the role of this Lady Million woman, who is
glamorous and strong at the same time.
What was it like meeting Matt Gordon?
I love Matt! We had a lot of fun on the set. There was a sort of spontaneous competition between
us, which was what the film called for, and I think that I won!
What attracted you the most about Lady Million?
Doesn’t every girl dream of clicking her fingers and getting whatever she wants?
