#PartnerForChange: Commuters and Travelers to Enjoy WiFi Connectivity in Main Transport Hubs

Change is indeed coming as millions of Filipino travelers and commuters can soon enjoy Internet connectivity at major public transportation hubs, allowing them to make their journeys much more enjoyable and productive through the recent partnership between PLDT, Smart Communications and the Department of Transportation.

Under this collaboration, Smart and PLDT will power WiFi connectivity at the station platforms, light railway vehicle (LRV), and on the street level of the entire lines of MRT3, and LRT 1 and 2. Meanwhile, data connectivity with the installation of Smart Wifi in major airports, seaports, and bus terminals all over the country will also be strengthened.

With this, commuters can take quickly share their photos and updates to friends and family on social media while at the airport, seaport, or bus terminal. Meanwhile, commuting on trains can be made more fun by streaming one’s favorite videos, shows, and clips via iflix and Youtube. Professionals, on the other hand, can continue respond to work e-mails. Needless to say, this marks a huge step in further empowering more Filipinos to be more connected wherever they may be.

The upcoming change has been formalized yesterday as Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and PLDT and Smart Chairman, President, and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan signed the Memorandum of Understanding outlining the initiative for better customer experience and to bring Internet access to more Filipinos nationwide.

The rollout is backed by PLDT’s robust and resilient fixed and wireless networks.

PLDT, Smart to bolster wireless data connectivity in major transport hubs. PLDT and Smart Communications have signed a landmark agreement with the Philippine government through the Department of Transportation to strengthen data connectivity with the installation of Smart Wifi in major airports, seaports, and bus terminals all over the country, as well as mass transport systems, MRT and LRT.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and PLDT and Smart Chairman, President, and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan signed yesterday the Memorandum of Understanding outlining the initiative for better customer experience and to bring Internet access to more Filipinos nationwide.

Under the MOU, Smart Wifi will be strengthened in major airports across the country, and deployed at seaports and bus terminals to serve millions of users.

Wireless data connectivity will also be available to commuters inside the station platforms, and light railway vehicle (LRV) as well as on the street level of the entire lines of MRT3, and LRT 1 and 2.

The rollout is backed by PLDT’s robust and resilient fixed and wireless networks.

We are moved by the storytellers, the dreamers, the drifters, the people whose lives are different than ours, that we can learn from. We are drawn to new surroundings and unique experiences. As we fall in love with so many things around us, sometimes it is hard to keep track. We love and we continuously holding on for that love. We love different. We love doing things that terrify us because we know those are the moments that we grow. We love looking back and seeing that we have accomplished what we never thought we could, things we never thought were even a possibility. Because it is in those moments we know we are becoming the people we were always intended to be. We leap before we look sometimes. It is finding ourselves when we didn’t know we were lost and continuing to find ourselves over and over again. It is kissing a cute stranger under the stars, waving at a baby we pass on the street, helping someone who cannot repay us. It is jotting down a funny memory or a beautiful quote we can’t forget.
