MASTERPIECES IN MOTION
5:33:00 PMWhen I was a little kid, I dreamt of becoming a ballerina...I was so curious on how ballerinas stand on their toes and how do they balance themselves! Imagining myself wearing that ladylike costume takes me to a different kind of world -- a world at peace.
I took Theater Arts course but I haven't got a chance to portray a role as a ballerina... so I guess, it will just always a dream.
Many years have past, my attention focused on my work and I could not even remember when was the last time I watched a theater show. Good thing, a new friend of mine and my former work colleague Reena gave me tickets to the back to back live performances of Ballet Manila and Singapore Dance Theater.
The show was entitled MASTERPIECES IN MOTION. Ballet Manila continues its tradition of bringing world-class ballet dance to Filipino fanatics. Masterpieces in Motion marked the Philippine debut of George Balanchine choreographies. Known as the “master of contemporary choreography in the world of ballet”, George Balanchine's Allegro Brilliante and Concerto Barroco was performed for the first time in the Philippines by Singapore Dance Theater.
Lisa Macuja and Ballet Manila also performed Philippines very owned classical and neo-classical choreographies.
The show was held at Aliw Theater last July 30, 2011 followed the assigned programme: Concerto Barocco by George Balanchine Love Beyond Goodbye by Manuel Molina As Above, So Below by Edwaard Liang BM Pas de Deux Maninyas by Stanton Welch Below are the photos I took during the show... My apologies if photos are not that sharp enough. =) And before I forget, I was reprimanded by the theater security group not to take any pictures and videos of the show! ahahah! but I admit, I am hard-headed person so I still managed to have photos and videos for this blog... =) Sorry guards! ehehe! |
