EAST MEETS WEST: JACK'S JOINT PANAY AVENUE QUEZON CITY

4:58:00 PM

"Burgers, Kebabs. Pizza and Shawarma all in one place! Experience it all here at Jack's Joint, where authentic Turkish delights meet our well-loved Western comfort food. East meets west, freshly made every day." a proud statement by Mr. Thomas Ang, owner of Jack's Joint Panay Avenue Quezon City Branch.

What is unique about Jack’s Joint is that, the owners and its chef are passionate about the food they create. Mr. Thomas Ang has lived and traveled the country and all over Asia to find inspiration and discover new food ideas. His co-founder is Chef Ibrahim Keskin, also the official chef and food enthusiast for Jack’s Joint helped on conceptualizing the menu. The delectable dishes are inspired by tastes of Eastern Mediterranean, American, Italian and flavors mainly from Turkey.

Jack’s Joint was named after his friend Jack, who owns and manages the first branch in Abad Santos Manila. The term ‘joint’ stands for their friendship. After couple of years of planning with his four investor friends, Mr. Thomas Ang, a young, self-confessed food lover and entrepreneur opened up Jack’s Joint second location in Panay Avenue Quezon City earlier this year. Thomas Ang, who graduated from De La Salle University Manila and also the owner of Yummy Diet and The Piggery, has successfully franchise and offering up an upgraded menu brought over from the first branch.

Jack’s Joint offers a cozy family-friendly atmosphere with offerings for everyone's tastes (even fries and burgers for the little ones)—with delicious and savory shawarma, kebabs grilled over open fire, and juicy pounder burger.

It is a journey home for good friends—those rekindling friendship memories while waiting for the meat as it is shaved and layered into piping hot pita bread, topped with chopped salad, tahini, fries, pickles. It is a destination inside a scrapbook for the traveler, the explorer who took a moment to rest and refuel, while navigating the never-ending tour, and wants to try shawarma for the first time. It is the perfect balance of timeless tradition and modern fare for those experiencing the flavor of the Middle East, just a small window into the vast culture and the flavorful Turkish cuisine.

Inside the restaurant is a spacious setting, you could easily tell that it is a cozy place. It has a good glowing lighting, comfy seats with just the right amount of space to lend a comfortable level of chatter from guests and yet maintain privacy; and sleek metal tables that defines relaxation and cleanliness. Food service is great– attentive and pro-active staff with the recommendations to diners. Jack’s Joint offers good value and with equally fantastic service.

Jack’s Joint wide selections of burger, kebab and shawarma are aimed to please customers. Offering delicious Middle Eastern food such as chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, hummus, steak, and many other dishes and drinks; impressive servings at very affordable prices.

Jack’s Joint serves shawarma that is a product of patience—meat is built on a spit, then marinated at length and finally slowly roasted as juices drip down to coat and caramelize its exterior. Whether you get your shawarma piled into a platter or wrapped up into a sandwich is your call, but of course it's the meat that makes this dish, no matter how many pickled turnips or squirts of garlic sauce are applied to accentuate it.

Choose from chicken, lamb or beef shawarma with vibrant array of pickles, salads, spicy and garlicky sauces. One of the great surprises that you must try is the Lamb and Chicken kebabs. Cooked just right –it is so meaty, juicy and tender once it touches your tongue. A little bit spicy and salty flavor yet balanced with its aromatic savor in after taste. Definitely a dish to have on your table.

No matter what you choose, may it be a kebab meal or shawarma, you can’t go wrong as long as you add your meal with their savory garlic sauce. Kebab choices include beef, chicken, and lamb; available with rice or per stick. The same goes for shawarma (beef or chicken), which comes with a side of sliced onions and tomatoes, with rice or in pita bread wrap.

They also serve a variety of other Middle Eastern favorites like Hunkar Begendi, ox brain, grilled salmon steak and lamb shank. The portions are big and right for the price. There was a great balance of ingredients wrap inside the pita and best of all, they still taste good even if they were no longer hot. Several perusals on the menu requires you to be confused which one to get—you might be tempted to order more than one item, since almost everything is afford-ably priced.

All the meats are also accompanied by a refreshing salad of radishes, charred onions and tomatoes and fresh leaves, it’s definitely worth ordering the various pickled vegetables. These help cut through the richness of the meats,

Then there is Moussaka Veggies, the traditional Greek dish of layered minced beef, eggplant and cheese, baked alla lasagna. To the uninformed and inexperienced, this description would definitely be far from enticing, particularly to someone who only eats fried eggplants. You have to believe that eggplant lasagna could taste so good!

Jack’s Joint’s hummus is smooth and creamy. Their fries are cut so thick, quick to snap and made tastier by the tomato dip, and salt drizzled a little over them.

Lastly, never forget on inducing refreshments with your meal, try Jack’s Joint’s Yogurt Shakes. This yogurt shake is so refreshing and goes so well with the food; available in mango, banana, strawberry and plain.

Serving incredibly cheap but delicious and filling meals, Jack’s Joint is a good spot for your simple yet fun Mediterranean dining experience. It is a place for everyone. Bring your friends to watch the game and have a few drinks or bring your whole family in for a delicious meal.

Here in Jack’s Joint we want to serve good food in a good ambiance. Tambayan ito ng magkakaibigan habang nanunuod ng sport event sa TV, habang nag-iinuman at may masarap na pulutan. We cater pay-per-view for live basketball and boxing viewing. Our staff are well trained on serving diners. Right now we have a one-month promo called Unlibab, it’s an Eat-All-You-Can Kebab, your choice of meat and chicken. And soon, we will be open for delivery within Timog area only. We also accept private party celebration here at Jack’s Joint Panay Avenue QC.” said Thomas Ang.
